Well here we were settled in Plano Texas enjoying the nice southern warm weather in December. It definitely was better than those cold - snowy winter days in Colorado. As usual my humans were always on the go, getting involved in all those normal grandkid type of things. Check out the SPORTS scene plus the PARTY at an arcade... Me...what do I do, you ask? Well, let me tell you...one day as I was enjoying the warmth in the trailer window there arose such a clatter over the stove. Would you believe...birds trying to nest in the exhaust fan. Whew! My work is never done protecting the mobile homestead. Wait! WHAT is that I see out the window!! Snow in Texas??? Snow is supposed to stay in the cold-cold north. Brrrrr!!!! Talking about the weather--Texas is no stranger to blasts from the north or moisture-laden fronts from the south. Shhh...don't tell...(I still don't like the sound of hard rain on the 5th-wheel.) Hey, there goes my human Bill off to a train show. My other human Nancy has an alter personality--HardTack. It seems that she enjoys clowning activities. One day my humans went off with family to cut Christmas Trees. After the tree cutting and trimming came Christmas. While presents at Christmas are nice we need to remember the real reason for the season is Jesus. Many people have been preparing for things to crash come New Year 2000. My humans attended a New Year's Eve party at Mike and Dee's. Well, now that Y2k has proven to be a non-event it's time to continue with our every day lives. Everyday life for me includes meals on wheels, that is, in-house dining. (Remember my dwelling place is a 5th-wheel.) When I overheard my humans relate a recent dining out experience I was more than relieved for meals on wheels. I heard about awards being given out for tigers, wolves, bears and...Webelos!?! And this was a BANQUET! Fit for whom? The Rattlesnake Patrol even opened the ceremonies--SCARY!!!! Glad for my in-house dining... When my humans told me that our time in Texas was at an end, I said, "Westward Ho! Let's circle the wagons"; and, we hitched up and headed on down the road. Boy, is Texas big! It took us two days to get out of Texas. The first night while we were in Midland Texas we had a really nasty hail storm. Now I know what it feels like inside of a snare drum. Then on to Las Cruces New Mexico, and then Phoenix Arizona where my humans visited Nancy's sister Sue and Gene, her husband. They also visited with long-time friend Paul Krempl. Finally on Monday March 6th we arrived in Sunny Southern California. Yeah right. It was raining like mad. I haven't seen the sun yet so I guess I'll take a nap. Monday night Cherie stopped by to visit. It sure was good to see her. Boy has she grown up and she seems to have gotten a new boy friend whom she pays more attention to than me. I guess I'll just have to make friends with him and check him out. |
