This was a big night for the Cub Scouts in Pack 1112. Not only were
they recognized for their achievements; but, for the Webelo Scout, they received
the highest award, the Arrow of Light, to mark their accomplishments in Cub
Scouting.

Five different kinds of awards were given out, represented by five
different colored
candles:
Orange ~ Tiger patch |
White ~ Wolf badge |
Yellow ~ Bear badge |
Blue ~ Webelo badge |
Red ~ Arrow of Light |
|
Each candle was lit by the main candle setting on the table. The main
candle, called AKALA, means "Leader", or "one to look up
to".

The Rattlesnake Patrol opened the ceremonies for the
banquet. |

The Arrow of Light is the highest award given in cub
scouting. Its meaning is embedded in each and every part of the
arrow. Its feathers of blue and gold denote faith and loyalty (the
blue), and warmth and good cheer (the gold). The shaft represents
honesty and fairness; the arrowhead, for courage and strength; the
lashing, for friendship in Scouting now and forever. |

It was all smiles for Mark and his family as the Blue & Gold Banquet
celebrated his graduation from Cub Scouting to Boy Scouting.
